Chair yoga is a gentle form of yoga that can be done sitting on a chair or standing on the ground while using the chair for support. Chair yoga has many benefits such as improving your flexibility, concentration and strength; boosting your mood; and reducing stress and joint strain.
While chair yoga is for everyone, older adults get the full benefits of this style. Staying seated means that even those who are shaky on their feet or those who are not flexible can safely do the exercises. Yoga is an excellent way for older adults to loosen and stretch painful muscles, reduce stress, and improve circulation. Our school teaches and includes chair yoga wherever it is needed.
